This poem was put together as a gift within a gift...I'll explain.
Vikki had booked to take her Mum away to celebrate her birthday. With the trip taking place in a few weeks time, Vikki still wanted to give her Mum something to open on her big day.
So, I met with Vikki, and she shared a few stories about her Mum, what she's like as a person and a few key details relating to the trip. I included these within the poem and designed a background to suit.
Vikki was able to give something personalised and special, whilst telling her Mum about the trip ahead...a lovely lazy get-away to Lake Como. Talk about two gifts in one!
I have to admit, this verse for April's made of honour speech to the bride and her best friend Tri, makes me well-up when I read it back.
During my consultation with April, she shared with me that her and Tri had a mutual love for Abba. I knew there and then that I just had to get an Abba themed line in there somewhere! With all the hit's they'd had, it couldn't be too hard, right?!
Wrong! I just couldn't seem to find the right lyric, line or song title...until the very end of the poem.
It felt fitting to finish with a line that gave a nod to their love for Abba as friends, whilst complimenting the bride and groom. Cheers to that!
I really enjoyed writing this verse for Rodney's birthday poem.
With a love for boardgames myself, I completely related to the story Kat told me of her Dad, Rodney, who by all accounts, takes games pretty seriously and catches on to how to win very quickly!
I hope I don't come up against Rodney any time soon!
Rachael approached me to write a poem for her husband Steven, to celebrate their 10 year wedding anniversary.
I loved hearing about the moments they'd shared over the years, with Steven's charisma a clear feature throughout!
The number 7 also seemed to crop-up regularly in their journey, so it was a real 'feel-good' moment when I was able to combine both constants in one verse.
I was asked by Kate to write a poem for her husband, Shaun, to simply say "thank you" for being him and doing what he does for their family.
What a lovely "just because" gesture.
Whenever I think about this poem, this verse always springs to mind! I recall laughing with Kate during our consultation around Shaun being a stickler with the thermostat and not letting the heating creep over 19.5oC! (It reminded me a little of myself in truth haha!)
I really wanted to get this story into the poem so when I did, I have to admit that I had a good chuckle to myself! I thought it brought the perfect balance of comedy and sentiment.
I'd never even thought about writing a poem for someone's Graduation, so when I was approached by a friendship group who wanted me to write one for their friend Emily, I was really up for the challenge!
The consultation was really fun and it was great to get input from all the girls on the call! As a result, I felt like I got to know Emily really well and it meant that when it came to it's design, I had a real idea of what Emily would like. In this instance, favourite colours and farmyard animals!
I've found that I get just as excited about writing the poem as I do about designing it, making sure the design really compliments the poem and the person it's about.
Perhaps there's a special occasion coming up and you'd like to give them something really personalised.
Maybe you've been asked to deliver a speech and you've no idea where to start.
Or, do you want to ask someone special a question but don't know how to ask it?
Get in touch to get that ball point pen rolling!
